🧸 Materials: Small scent containers with holes, natural aromatic items (spices, coffee beans, peels)

📍 Location: Quiet, clean space free from strong ambient odors

💡 Goal: Foster language, emotional awareness, and thinking through sensory experience

⏱️ Duration: 20–30 minutes

👶 Age Group: 3–5 years

Preparation and Creative Exploration

Take a few small containers with perforated lids and place different natural scents inside: vanilla, cinnamon, lemon peel, coffee beans. Let the child smell each container and guess the scent. Encourage them to share where they might have encountered that smell before—perhaps in grandma’s kitchen or during a walk in the woods. This becomes a sensory journey through memory and imagination.

Reflection and Discussion

After exploring the scents, invite the child to reflect: which scent reminded them of a pie, and which brought back memories of a forest adventure? What feelings did each smell evoke—joy, calmness, curiosity? This kind of discussion nurtures language development, emotional literacy, and a deeper understanding of the world.
